This is a book for those kids who are new to a school or neighborhood. Becoming accepted is sometimes awkward. In this comical book, Seal is a new resident at the zoo and only Sparrow has come by to welcome her. So, she decides to take the initiative and go meet the other animals herself. And because she’s a warm, friendly seal, she goes around hugging and kissing everyone. The problem is, she’s just eaten a sardine and her breath is kind of …fishy. Illustrator Tallec draws hilarious animals reacting unhappily to the kisses they’ve received, and finally Snow Leopard tells her flat out that she stinks. Well! Oh dear. Sparrow tell the animals they have not been welcoming to their new neighbor and they agree. They write a nice note and give her a gift of a peppermint shrimp. She is thrilled and they all become friends. A good book for story time and one that kids can “read” on their own because the funny pictures invite comments.

A charming tale of a French seal new to the zoo, who sets out to greet her new companions with kisses - just after she's eaten a sardine. Her companions are none too pleased with this smelly new-comer's overly enthusiastic introduction. Young readers will delight at "zee" word play and the animals' reactions to the seal's enthusiasm. A wonderful lesson in learning to accept each other as we are. A perfect treat for Valentine's Day and any day when you need a kiss.

This is another adorable story from Beth Ferry! This sweet "French" seal struggles to make friends in her new home. She reminds us all what it's like to be in a new place, trying to fit in. The animals take a bit of time to realize she's doing her best to fit in, but come to accept and love her by the end. This book has a sweet message of love for all our little ones! It is also filled with lots of alliteration and great descriptive words, that make the book a fun read for the adult reading it. A new family favorite!

Adorable!! My class at school and my Grandchildren loved this book! It’s great for teaching about accepting new people that might be different from you. What it feels like to be new, and Loving everyone! Taught in a sweet and charming way. I love it!!! Pictures are adorable.

Another great children’s book by Beth Ferry. There really cannot be enough books that try to teach children about being accepting of others, no matter their differences. How best to show little ones than with a cute little seal and his soon to be friends!
